Want to write an engaging event staff job ad?

Holidays are just around the corner and you’re going to need seasonal event staff!

It’s no surprise that this time of year is massive for everyone in the events industry but finding the right event staff doesn’t have to be a headache. We all have diaries crammed full of corporate functions, and a to-do list as long as our arms, and before you know it, you’re going to need those event staff for the seasonal spike.

Christmas is huge in the hospitality industry and hiring the right people to see your events all the way through to 2019 is one of the most important things you will do this year. We’re here to help you get it right, from the moment your ad goes live.

Writing an engaging job advert is going to take some time and prep, but it will be worth it when you have the perfect event staff in place.

Reel them in…

The first thing any prospective employee is going to see is your job title. Use this to your advantage. Give your position a title that will reel people in. That doesn’t mean hype it up and make the job sound more than it is, but you can use a bit of creative flair!! You need to ensure that your job ad is more compelling than the 9 job ads surrounding it on the page. If your job title stands out, and your ad is engaging, people will stop, read, and apply.

Keep it short. 800 words or less ensures your job ad is straightforward without losing the applicants attention!

Let them know what they’re in for!

Information that must be included in your job ad is:

  • A detailed job description
  • Training offered
  • Skills/ experience needed
  • Location of the role
  • Length of contract

We understand that working in the events industry is a really varied job, consequently event staff  may be required to switch roles or venues and help team members at a moment’s notice if the situation arises. Therefore, it’s hard to be really clear on when and where the applicant will be working. However, being as clear as you can, and detailing what is expected, will enable the applicant to understand the role, and decide if it is right for them.

Don’t be timid

Being timid never gets you anywhere! Put your best foot forward and tell applicants what you’re all about. Lay it on the line. You want to capture the hearts and minds of these job seekers, so make sure you showcase your values, promote your team spirit, and give your company’s previous work a push. Feel free to name drop here! This is the time to promote your business and tell applicants why they NEED to come and work for you. Add team photos and pictures of previous events and venues. Adding images will bring your ad to life, and create some excitement about what’s ahead for the successful candidate.

Apart from telling the candidates how awesome you are to work for, you also need to paint a detailed picture of what the job entails- I Need Event Staff

Who do YOU want

There’s no shame in being very clear about who YOU are looking for. No doubt your team has shared ideas on exactly what you need in your newest employee. This is your event, and you know who will be the perfect fit. There is no need for you to be afraid to tell the candidates what experience is required. Here at I Need Event Staff we can help you secure the perfect people every time!

Roll the tape!

You’ve created the perfect job description, therefore it’s only fair that the hiring process is made easier from this point on.

It’s very hard to get someone to open up if you create a “traditional interview” posture: cold and dry. Make the experience fun for the candidate! Engage. Talk. Laugh. – Forbes.com

Asking candidates to create a short video detailing why they will be perfect for the job will give you a really good indication of the candidate’s communication skills, confidence and ultimately their attitude. Not everyone likes to be on camera, however, in the events industry we need confident staff with great interpersonal skills, and top verbal communication. Video is a great way to determine if your applicants have these skills and can use them to their advantage.
